In light of the increasing global COVID-19 challenges and aligned with recent direction from the Ontario Medical Association (OMA), we regret to inform you that the Ottawa Fertility Centre (OFC) must temporarily suspend all non-essential services to our patients effective today, including both our blood lab and ultrasound departments.
All patients with upcoming appointments will be contacted by our staff to communicate your personal care plan over the upcoming weeks. We will also be in touch to reschedule any cancelled appointments when we are able to safely re-open and re-establish normal OFC operations. We are able to offer some appointments with OFC physicians through the Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) or phone calls, and if applicable, this option will be offered to you.
If you have any immediate medical emergencies related to your fertility care please call 613-722-7000 and ask to speak to the IVF physician on-call, or present yourself to your nearest hospital emergency department. If you have questions or concerns about your ongoing fertility treatment you can call us at 613-686-3378 ext 617 to discuss it with one of our nurses. General questions can be directed by email to firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 613-686-3378 ext 200. Please also visit our website for ongoing updates regarding our operational pause.
We recognize that this temporary interruption of services decision may pose its own challenges, but the health and safety of our patients and staff is our utmost priority. At this time, temporarily shutting down OFC operations is our safest course of action to safeguard everyone’s health. We look forward to seeing you again as soon as this public health situation is resolved.
Please note: Dr. Gervaize will be available for online / telephone appointments during the time we are closed, you may contact her at email@example.com
How much should I expect to pay for an IVF cycle?
The cost of an IVF cycle depends on the amount of medications required to stimulate follicle growth. Generally speaking, you can expect to pay $12,000 to $17,000 for a cycle including your medications. Some patients require additional lab services that can add to costs. Patients who require ICSI – a procedure where a single sperm is injected into an egg – will pay an additional fee. If there are any surplus embryos to be frozen, patients can also expect to pay an additional fees which includes the first year of storage.
How much should I expect to pay for an IUI cycle?
Most of the fees for an IUI cycle are covered by funding from the MOHLTC. For patients using partner sperm, the lab washes the sperm prior to insemination (a cost of $850). Sperm washing is a process whereby individual sperms are separated from the seminal fluid. If you are using donor sperm, you can expect to pay $300 plus medications.
Why do you charge a fee for processing of donor sperm?
The Ottawa Fertility Centre has a state of the art laboratory that meets the highest standards for safety and quality in the industry. Your donor specimens are safe in our clinic. Upon receipt of specimens, donor units are transferred into a cryo tank in our laboratory. To ensure safety and accuracy, two Andrologists (lab technologists) are involved. The Andrologists transfer the frozen specimens, document the specimens in our inventory system, and check all documentation to ensure compliance with Health Canada regulations. Fees also include storage up to one year of storage and thawing on the day of insemination.
Full payment of fees is due when patients call with their “Day 1” of menses to initiate treatment.
Blue Cross patients are required to pay IVF fees before start of treatment.
Payment may be made by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Interact. We no longer accept cash payments. All fees are in Canadian Dollars.
A no show fee of $100 may apply for missed appointments. Two business days notice is required to cancel an appointment.
Fees may change without advance notice.
If you have questions about our fees or if you would like information on fees for a past treatment cycle, please call 613-686-3378 ext 201.
