Dr. Paul Claman

Dr. Paul Claman completed an Associates Degree in Talmudic Study and a Bachelor’s Degree in pre-medicine and liberal arts at Yeshiva University, New York. He then attained his Doctor of Medicine at the University of British Columbia, followed by an internship at McGill University’s Jewish General Hospital and a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Baylor College of Medicine in Texas. His subspecialty fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility was completed at Harvard Medical School, in Boston, Massachusetts.

Since arriving in Ottawa in 1986, Dr. Claman has been practicing in the field of Reproductive Medicine at the University of Ottawa. He is a Full Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, previous, and an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital. He is certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He has also been American board certified in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. Dr. Claman has authored over 80 articles in peer-reviewed journals, and several book chapters and review articles.

Dr. Claman’s areas of interest include clinical problems in assisted reproductive technology and polycystic ovarian syndrome. He is an active teacher and often-invited speaker at national and international scientific meetings. Dr. Claman is a consultant and founding partner of the Ottawa Fertility Centre and the Kingston Fertility Centre.

Dr. Tannys Vause

Dr. Tannys Vause completed her Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine degrees at the University of Manitoba. She then completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Alberta and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in 2008. Dr. Vause completed a two year sub-specialty fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa in 2010.

Dr. Vause is an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa and an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital. She is a consultant physician and partner of the Ottawa Fertility Centre. She is certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. Dr. Vause is also the fellowship director of the Royal College-approved training program in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa. She stays current in her field through ongoing research, training courses, and conferences, and by teaching colleagues, medical fellows, residents, and medical students.

Dr. Vause’s fertility practice includes all areas of reproductive and infertility care, as well as patient education. She strongly believes the most important thing in a doctor-patient relationship is communication. Having undergone fertility issues and treatment herself, Dr. Vause emphasises the power of communication and patient experience, ensuring that you are heard and understood, and guiding you through all the steps of diagnosis and treatment. She has experienced both sides of the relationship, as a patient searching for answers, and as a doctor trying to provide support and care. Dr. Vause also counsels couples to optimize their pre-pregnancy health, to maximize their fertility outcomes. She welcomes all new patients to her practice and aims to help you navigate this challenging time in life and find your path to a happy and healthy pregnancy.

Dr. Doron Shmorgun

Dr. Doron Shmorgun completed his training at McMaster University, and completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology in 2007. In August 2009, he completed a two year subspecialty fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (GREI) at the University of Ottawa.

Dr. Shmorgun is currently an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa, an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital, and a consultant and partner at the Ottawa Fertility Centre. He is certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, and Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Dr. Shmorgun is also certified in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. He is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Until 2017 he was the program director for the University of Ottawa residency training program in GREI, and remains actively involved in education of medical trainees.

Dr. Shmorgun is passionate about improving the care couples at the OFC receive as well as their experience of that care. His practice includes all areas of reproductive care, with a particular interest in in-vitro fertilization and male factor infertility. His research is focused on assessment of current and novel practices in fertility therapy and continuous quality improvement at the clinic level. Dr. Shmorgun is constantly striving to improve clinical workflow at the Ottawa Fertility Center in order to optimize patient experience.

Dr. Jeff Haebe

Dr. Jeff Haebe obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Toronto, followed by a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Manitoba. After finishing his subspecialty training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Western Ontario, he started his practice at the Ottawa Hospital in 2001. He has subsequently undertaken a Clinical Traineeship in Gynaecologic Ultrasound at the University of Lund in Malmo, Sweden.

Dr. Haebe is currently an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa and an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital. He is a consultant and founding partner of the Ottawa Fertility Centre, and the Head of the Ottawa Fertility Centre Ultrasound Unit. He is certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is also certified in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers. He is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, the Canadian Society of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers, the Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine. Dr Haebe acts as an assessor of Ultrasound Units for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Dr. Haebe’s practice includes all areas of reproductive care, with particular interest in pelvic ultrasound and infertility. He has worked extensively to introduce the latest ultrasound-based diagnostic tests and procedures into clinical practice in Ottawa. Dr. Haebe is the Medical Director of the Ottawa Fertility Centre. He is active nationally in the field of infertility. He is on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society where he is currently in the third year of a three year term. Dr. Haebe is the Treasurer for the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, and is also on the Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Committee for the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada where he serves as the voting member for Ontario.

Dr. Matt Roberts

Dr. Matt Roberts is currently an Assistant Professor in the Division of Urology, Department of Surgery, at the University of Ottawa and is the Program Director for the Urology Residency Training Program. He is an attending physician at The Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus, and a consultant urologist at the Ottawa Fertility Centre.

Dr. Roberts has received extensive training in all aspects of male fertility and andrology, and is a highly trained and experienced micro-surgeon. His current clinical interests centre on the evaluation and treatment of male infertility including microsurgical sperm retrieval, varicocelectomy, and microsurgical vasectomy reversal. His practice also focuses on andropause/testosterone deficiency and erectile dysfunction in addition to general urology.

Dr. Roberts currently focuses his research interests on clinical male fertility and surgical education and has authored several scientific articles and book chapters in these fields.

Dr. Delani Kotarba

Dr. Delani Kotarba completed her undergraduate training at the University of Western Ontario, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry. She then earned her Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Toronto, completing her residency training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa in 1992. Having completed her fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Ottawa, she has been practicing reproductive medicine since 1994.

Dr. Kotarba is currently an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa and an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital. She is a consultant and founding partner of the Ottawa Fertility Centre. She is certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, as well as a Licencate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, the Society of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists of Canada, and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine.

Dr. Kotarba has received awards for excellence in laparoscopic surgery and medical education. She has been an invited speaker at both national and international meetings and conferences. Dr. Kotarba is the Chief of the Division of Reproductive Medicine at the University of Ottawa in the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She is an active member of the department Senior Leadership team and the departmental Finance Committee. She is also involved in resident and fellow evaluation, and candidate preparation for the Royal College examinations.

Dr. Bryden Magee

Dr. Bryden Magee completed her Bachelor of Health Science at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario. She provides fertility services for the Ottawa Fertility Centre, Kingston Fertility, and Kingston General Hospital. She cares for individuals and couples with infertility or recurrent pregnancy loss and women with polycystic ovarian syndrome, endocrine disorders and primary ovarian insufficiency. She offers fertility options for LGBTQ individuals and families. Dr. Magee performs minimally-invasive, fertility-related gynaecologic surgery and assisted reproductive technologies including in-vitro fertilization. She strives to provide compassionate and evidence-based care for women undergoing the menopausal transition.

Dr. Jackson is consulting physician at the Ottawa Fertility Centre and an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital, as well as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. She is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and is certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound. Dr. Jackson offers care in all areas of reproductive medicine with compassion, empathy, and just the right amount of humour. As chair of the Patient Experience Committee, Dr. Jackson is committed to ensuring that patients feel heard, understood, respected, and well-cared for at the Ottawa Fertility Centre.

Dr. Jackson has a special interest in adolescents and young adults facing medical therapies that may compromise their fertility. She is the lead physician for the Fertility Preservation program at the Ottawa Fertility Centre, and has developed strong working relationships with both adult and pediatric oncology health professionals in the region, ensuring the urgent fertility needs of this patient population are met in a timely manner. She has been invited to speak at many local, regional, provincial, and national conferences on the subject of fertility preservation and is an advocate for patients to ensure access this important aspect of oncology care.
