Dr. Aaron Jackson

I chose to specialize in reproductive endocrinology because it is challenging and yet so rewarding.  There is a personal connection with patients that grows during their journey.  I love to connect with the patients and help them achieve their dream of a family. My favorite part of my job is seeing patients return with their children.  They love to come and show me their precious family. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is leading the Fertility Preservation program at the OFC and working with patients experiencing urgent medical situations that can affect their fertility. I find working with these individuals to be very rewarding as it is often a challenging and stressful time for them, and I am able to assist with keeping their hopes and dreams for a future family intact through urgent gamete freezing. The time I spend with them is usually relatively brief, but very meaningful.

Dr. Aaron Jackson obtained a Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Waterloo in 2000. She then completed her Doctor of Medicine degree at The University of Western Ontario in 2004. Dr. Jackson complete her residency training in Obstetrics & Gynaecology at the University of Ottawa in 2009, followed by a two year subspecialty training program in Gynaecologic Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at the Ottawa Fertility Centre.

Dr. Jackson is consulting physician at the Ottawa Fertility Centre and an attending physician at the Ottawa Hospital, as well as an Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Ottawa. She is an active member of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society and the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and is certified by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in obstetrical and gynecological ultrasound, and is the program director for the REI fellowship program. Dr. Jackson offers care in all areas of reproductive medicine with compassion, empathy, and just the right amount of humour.

Dr. Jackson has a special interest in adolescents and young adults facing medical therapies that may compromise their fertility. She is the lead physician for the Fertility Preservation program at the Ottawa Fertility Centre and has developed strong working relationships with both adult and pediatric oncology health professionals in the region, ensuring the urgent fertility needs of this patient population are met in a timely manner. She has been invited to speak at many local, regional, provincial, and national conferences on the subject of fertility preservation and is an advocate for patients to ensure access this important aspect of oncology care.

Dr. Jackson grew up in Kemptville, just south of Ottawa. She was happy to return to the Ottawa area after completing medical school and has been in the city ever since. Ottawa has always felt like home to her and she feels very fortunate to have been able to settle in an area where she can be close to friends and family. Outside of work, Dr. Jackson enjoys getting outside as much as possible. Whether it be for a run, ski, bike, horseback ride, swim, paddle board, or to just do some gardening. Fresh air and exercise make her happy.
